Media: TV star: Oprah crocodiles over Mohammed Atta, 9/11 Islamicist terrorist

Preston Taylor Holmes has a sock-it-to-'er go at the celebrity of Oprah, last name unnecessary but its Winfrey, who I know only from TV. I like her. She's extravagant. She's sentimental. She's a self-advertized do-gooder and know-it-all except when its coy to play the constantly learning, updating, and even-handed, balanced person changing her mind (at least by implication). But none of these observations say it all. I like her, more or less, but now a bit less. This is because I just encountered one of her human-interest stories that has more than a cutting bombing edge. I came across Holmes' item on the website Conservative Thinking, where the author discusses her (shall we say?) n-o-t even-handed appraisal of the bomber and the bombing victims of the 9/11 slawter by Muslim terrorists. A bit in a doggie mood, I left my trace in a Comment (still acutely embarassed that I haven't yet figured out how to make our own Comments feature work here on refWrite), a Comment there that gives my strategy of reading said author Holmes and taking what he has to say about Great Lady Oprah, with a least a grain of salt.:

The rhetoric of this piece is so jaunty that methinks some of what Oprah allegedly says, does, thinks is also replictated in the alleger's rhetorical approach. But, in the end, I take it that Oprah wants to make sure no terrorist is ever called a Muslim. This can't be done without leaving one's brains at the pub. Rather, the religious element in various terrorist cults, large and small, means that such things as "Muslim terrorists" (who deny true Islam), "Christian terrorists" (who deny true Christianity), "Jewish terrorists" (who deny true Judaism), Hindu terrorists (who deny the best of Hindism, but then there's Kali, Goddes of Destruction) - anyway, all these kinds of terrorists do exist. So, if the writer is correct on this fawlt in Oraph's management of the complex issues of identifying the people who commit these kinds of crimes against humanity, she is in serious denial. But that's her problem. Our problem is that she's a media mogul and star celebrity who is dumping political trash on the North American public. So terribly sad! I like her in many respects, but this is over the top! Thanks anyway for disillusioning me about what I thawt was her sterling intelligence and political morality. - Politicarp, refWrite (posted on Conservative Thinker by Politicarp on 02 June 2005 - 19:10 hrs).
