Media: News: Leftwing news & opinion mag The New Republic (TNR) launches media's 1st column covering "outposts of tyranny"

Really refreshing to see a serious leftie magazine pose a real problem of the world political situation, and decide to create a space in its online version (not the print version tho) to ensure consistent coverage of that specific topic. The column written by T. A. Frank topheads itself as "updates from the world's tyrannical outposts," and runs the title: "Today in Despotism." That is so amazingly unusual that someone should mention it, and applaud. So, I will do just that. However, a left horizon could turn every issue regarding every country reported in that column into mush. But, let's not be party-poopers, let's give Frank a chance to do his/her thing. Frank's first paragraph cites Condoleeza Rice's list of not so long ago as part of the feature's concerns: "Cuba, North Korea, Burma (or Myanmar), Belarus, Iran, and Zimbabwe as examples." TNR's list already adds Libyia and Syria. So, we may find some tyrannies crop up here that aren't on the current USA administration's public Worst Bad Boy lists. Oh, there's one twist to the column - the news items reported will be derived from the official news agencies of said outposts. This could end up being a very humourous column indeed! - Owlb
