CRWRC Partners to Provide Aid to

Pacific Earthquake Survivors

CRWRC Newsroom |  March 11, 2011

After a catastrophic earthquake hit east of Honshu, Japan,
in the early early morning hours of Friday, March 11,
CRWRC is making arrangements with Christian partners
on the ground to provide funds for immediate, emergency
aid to earthquake survivors.

In Japan, more than 300 people are confirmed dead at this time
and manymore casualties are expected. Numerous other Pacific
countries are or have been on tsunami alert, but most appear to
have been spared significant damage. Wayne de Jong, CRWRC
director for relief and rehabilitation, says staff are closely
monitoring events in and around the Pacific Ocean.

Tsunami preparations are also underway on the
Hawaiian Islands and U.S. territories in the Pacific.
CRWRC director for disaster response inNorth America,
Bill Adams, is in contact with emergency management
agencies in these locations as the situation continues to
develop.

CRWRC will launch a response with earthquake and tsunami
survivors in affected countries in concert with Back to God
Ministries International and Christian Reformed World
Missions, the ACT Alliance, and other partners.  All Christian
Reformed Church staff located in Japan are reported safe.
