Minnesota, USA: Newark Mayor Cory Booker Gives King Day Keynote

The annual 7am holiday breakfast at the Minneapolis Convention Center is sold out! The  moderate-liberal Democratic mayor of Newark, N.J. gives this year's keynote speech. Also featured at this booked breakfast will be Michael L. Lomax, president and CEO of the United Negro College Fund.

New Jersey, USA: Sophia A. Nelson Gives King Day Keynote

"A Drum Major for Justice" award and service is being held at 11 a.m. at the St. John Baptist Church (30th and Mitchell Streets in Camden, N.J.). The Theta Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority sponsors the event with the theme "The 25th National Celebration of a Legacy." Sophia A. Nelson, a moderate commentator, will deliver the keynote address. The award recipient will be former New Jersey Supreme Court Justice John E. Wallace of Sewell, only the second black person on the state Supreme Court.

Britain: Dambisa Moyo Gives Speech At Oxford University

Dr. Moyo continues the UK leg of her book tour for her latest tome, How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly and the Stark Choices Ahead. In the book, she discuses the failure of policy-making in the world's leading industrialized countries. Today, the Zambian-born economist appears at the place where she earned her PhD in economics. Oxford University @ Rhodes House, South Parks Road in Oxford. The event starts at 5:00pm GMT.
