Terrorism: Religion opposing it: Toronto - Muslim leaders from all Canada unite publicly against terrorism in our society

Friendship with Toronto's Muslim Community

It's an honour in these troubled times in city life, to be able to express friendship with Toronto's own Muslim community. Because of events yesterday, now we can do so by citing a major concrete action taken by Muslim leaders here and from across Canada, who insisted the critical moment had arrived, despite any personal risk to themselves, to gather publicly and make their own affirmation of their part in broader communal life of Toronto and all Canada.

It's not as tho this move is something utterly brand new, something that has occured only after London 7/7. But what's new is that the affirmation has surfaced, has surfaced unitedly, and has even taken to the airwaves on TV where viewers could see calm, caring, intelligent people with human faces and words of encouragement for us all as to our prospects for an open urban cultural together.

Leading Muslim scholars and leaders have expressed in those tidbits the medium lets thru, powerful religious thawts about good neighbourlinesss that we all depend upon for the hi quality of civic life that Toronto enjoys, come what may at the hand of the terrorists enemies of all of us - whether we be Muslims, Christians, Jews, secularist Humanists, Buddhists, Sikhs, Hindus, and people too who have no description or label to identify themselves according to their ulitmate values. The only line of normative division in civic Toronto is the one that sorts between good neighbours and terrorists or violent criminals. May God have mercy on us all! - Owlb
