The final results announced by the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) on July 6 gave conservative Felipe CALDERON of the National Action Party 15,000,284 votes (35.89%), or a margin victory of 0.58% over his main opponent Andrés Manuel López OBRADOR. Representing the Democratic Revolution Party, OBRADOR enjoyed the support of 14,756,350 voters (35.31%). López OBRADOR's supporters are demanding that the recount be completed not only in the announced 9% of polling stations, but in the whole country. The Tribunal must resolve the complaints before a September 6 deadline to make a final ruling on the winner of the election.
